Set Up Web Hosting( Q, ~0 n. d5 u; f! ?0 g& t5 J' `
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said' h" I G# k0 }# I0 N
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
8 i1 ^0 a4 |+ H* Fhost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with9 i: G/ o# h9 _7 [7 t4 Z2 x. P1 L% _
whoever else is on the same server as you.
$ c+ g) _5 L. ?; C/ `% qSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast7 y! z; p) P6 E
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
" ?! B8 |: F3 Z7 x. m l( S& @' lseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
+ z" u s5 ?( z* W% b& Q) zTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
5 v, S! B6 |5 z4 Phouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
7 s1 I3 Y3 V: }# p1 S; RIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside+ ?: U- l- ]7 W- T9 w( B

Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
( A- G+ B: c+ y! N! y& G% m* _/ wthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
6 W6 q: R$ P, Itheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.( g6 b# i8 q; N( z& r7 n2 v
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For% x# ?0 x; \ y5 j3 I
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.* u' s4 A4 U& x* s6 L& j) u/ S( I
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space/ Y8 o+ @& Z! Q7 r. r
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
! M: @3 W5 R- s" Y5 ? k8 Epartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.. [! j/ Y" z( `" r
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
! B0 ~& p. y5 v# ibelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more' X2 q3 C' t/ y
traffic, faster.8 q! j3 m( h) s9 l: X. A1 H7 G
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
