Set Up Web Hosting4 W! V- R5 E6 Z# @# p3 ^# B% X
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
) j8 h8 d, {! i5 tabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared, r! S" b. \( o( B* _
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with. o7 Y" T x6 w8 h9 p- j" u
whoever else is on the same server as you.
/ [) L6 i& V2 G( f# z6 ]$ t @Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
6 K/ R, K$ j6 r( a. R+ fenough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
! B$ T3 u4 D) @( Gseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.* M( J! C6 X# P# \7 E; V W
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
: s7 D3 w! x# Ghouse full of roommates (hosting customers).4 T* V! ? u" b4 ^1 J( R' Z
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside4 r" d# w5 f8 y; u- O! c7 U9 Q
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will

Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than" G" _) y5 r8 N" h4 r N3 F
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate8 v8 G# B2 o& X1 I- m
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.0 ^$ E& p, N- t. {
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For+ B" i: u4 J3 E, s. X& |7 O% B6 \/ x
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.9 {) U3 s6 p* B+ ?+ [
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
5 w/ l, n+ G$ b% J6 X8 j9 e9 H' kinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
7 `* E2 {* j9 S( Y& L: ^% @2 qpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.5 W1 G: t$ @' z0 q& w
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources4 s7 m1 g/ |- q6 g! R
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
" g4 {1 U: n5 f9 dtraffic, faster.4 m# P5 h/ E# m# J- m) k1 z1 ?
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
