$ K9 E( J- n4 K0 D2 I& b" IGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
5 Z; C0 {4 q3 N. [# _/ q3 ^about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared: Z" O- c+ i9 ^0 L5 u% h: E
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with: Z5 Z0 q( D( p7 l X
whoever else is on the same server as you.' J4 Y2 s8 L% H; H% k* [2 b& _& \
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast3 g, k% @+ v6 l6 _$ h4 m1 [
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
3 Q9 C: T$ J5 G2 C6 a+ g/ j8 Hseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
7 u" i0 R' P0 v( s( WTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
" y6 w" V: L. x. o9 g( s( ^house full of roommates (hosting customers).4 ]" f" V0 K- E- _1 n3 q" R
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside1 h' M5 t& w7 x5 N, ~3 Z
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
7 E3 r2 [0 |# ]( Yfit.5 h& f2 z i6 c8 Z9 S
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
2 ?( f" A& I# i1 H4 r$ H* z1 zthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate# m" b8 I9 w& C ?
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.3 @( T. M7 ~: d& L9 T" U& Y x, L: o
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
& [2 C8 _$ r5 g; y3 ^any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
, Q/ d' v' U# W" EIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space" w) m2 z( [. H# X4 W9 G6 @; B
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is. Y0 _+ P4 X5 }$ n, Y0 k- t( b
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
5 ^- t2 m2 E ZA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources6 M3 g, T9 K& o
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
9 T7 q" C1 k$ P- g8 Xtraffic, faster.
- Z( V! C$ d% q% ^1 |" a RAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
