Set Up Web Hosting
4 o4 P7 W. Z% pGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said+ H3 X. \9 E5 ~' g9 l% w3 Y' _7 G
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared( Z3 W: z0 I9 f5 _4 G8 z3 h
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
; @ L7 ]3 ]2 ?" J& Q1 Swhoever else is on the same server as you.
# O% T% @+ f# O+ V# [$ NSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
- U( l3 R, K6 k7 q' W0 Eenough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 31 c- X8 P+ d5 D* z$ w
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.$ {, `" T$ O: T, p7 w# d
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
! o N2 ^+ k+ Z" ~. }house full of roommates (hosting customers).
$ x& Z! y9 h, ]- o: O! f3 [! n xIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside

fit.$ n$ m" s$ ~; ^
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than! [5 v7 t: g& g2 @: ^! W1 _
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
( o, l8 k% t0 l+ u: c- B; T' Xtheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.! W4 X( M" R# S! a: W
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
: N. H( X4 b* f4 rany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic., k m( o: y7 t& I
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space, \) S9 \9 t/ ^8 r9 \+ S; A6 T
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
/ o4 M5 I) D1 P0 }partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.5 _) ]* z3 m! r, d' F: Z
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
: D7 z& Z% `& \& E3 ~6 `; }belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more4 K9 w7 _6 R6 o- d& F& `/ G! Q0 m
