The affiliate marketing space is filled with offers, internet traffic sources, promotion techniques and an

you'll wake up to millions of dollars overnight. For anyone who has ACTUALLY done affiliate marketing8 u4 O- N5 K, G9 M! U Q
with any success, these claims are laughable and far from the truth.$ s5 X) ~4 _3 u
Affiliate marketing is simply a business, like any other. There are customers, sales, suppliers and cash$ q5 D% K: R* t
flow management. The main benefits are the low barrier to entry compared to other businesses, and

Affiliate Marketing- is an internet-based marketing practice in which a business pays one or more6 T8 x: ~9 A. F; E% X
affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. The two main5 p" L8 |- x7 o7 K/ p

Cost per sale (CPS) network- Every time an affiliate sends a visitor who buys a product, the affiliate
- l$ C. |) u, b; {8 t% F# wreceives a commission on that product. An example would be the Amazon.com Associates program,
9 H7 \; a' W/ n+ q9 X+ N7 i4 B+ gComission Junction or Clickbank.
' F1 {1 w. T7 t- j3 VCost per action (CPA) network- The affiliate earns a commission by sending a visitor who completes) g6 T: y! }. u9 D5 {
an action like filling out a form, submitting their email address, signing up for a service or sometimes. Z) B5 d2 D7 Z/ q" n. y
buying a product. An example would be Ads4Dough or Neverblue.
$ T/ L0 z# e2 p, b; z2 mAffiliate Manager- an affiliate's contact at a CPA affiliate network who is responsible for the affiliate's
/ M. S& U& ^1 F, x& M# vaccount, getting the affiliate approved for offers, bumping payouts and just about everything else
d9 V/ h0 c" a J* Mrelated to an affiliate's account at the network. Having a good relationship with your affiliate manager
) |& y+ F* c x; L7 ^right from the start can really help you.
( X6 ~' M+ b- t0 {7 OPPV- means pay-per-view, and is also called CPV (cost-per-view). This type of internet traffic is served# n! t4 R+ ?4 f5 k' G/ h3 n
in pop-up form through downloadable software on the visitor's computer. The advertiser pays per% N$ K% |" e) {
view, starting anywhere from .01 or .015.
; `" Q' i, t! I; l3 KIn order to use this type of internet traffic, the affiliate can sign up with a number of different
. c% [' ~& Z; {companies who serve popups. The main PPV/CPV networks are Trafficvance, LeadImpact,

The number of popups served varies depending on the PPV network. Some pop more frequently

Companies that specialize in this type of traffic offer their visitor an incentive like screensavers, games,
! x6 q- N( a Z4 H1 O7 O% b; Etoolbars or videos to place the software on their computer. The visitor keeps the software in place so

5 m2 b5 i3 r( H3 E1 @+ vIn order to start marketing offers, it will be necessary to join one or more CPA networks. A good place: s, Y. w& A1 N) h; b
to start looking for networks is Offervault which lists offers and lets you compare payouts across
' |: D/ J d& m. s4 y1 o/ C# vdifferent networks.: X6 Z1 @' E5 z* J! b2 x+ u, l+ ]
Once you find a network that you want to join, fill out the affiliate (sometimes called publisher); ~7 l1 G9 x7 J8 d
application and be as specific as possible about your promotion methods. Usually some time after6 F ^! N- g( V7 }8 G. k$ u+ Z
receiving your application, the company will call to interview you. The phone interview is a critical
) c. a9 S/ D5 |, Q3 c& ~; cpart of the application process, and most networks will deny your application outright if they can't get
+ B# C! H; K% x. J0 Hyou on the phone.5 T; z) |/ V% B( J) \5 Z
Often, the person who does your phone interview will actually become your affiliate manager after% x) O6 o+ n4 _: D$ N0 \
you get accepted, so it's a good time to put your best food forward.

What methods do you use to market offers?

application. If you get denied, just keep applying or call someone on the phone and try again. Be# C' N) y0 s' C. d' Y- Q( J
persistent. Also, getting a personal recommendation from someone who is already an active affiliate9 z* U/ I6 f8 g4 G: v) z5 S q6 Z; e }
for the network can be helpful.
& a$ ^2 t: r& Z1 E$ N; t7 [, [To meet people from various networks, sometimes it can be effective to go to conferences like Affiliate
* `/ R& G# u8 L& P' N! ^/ R. bSummit, or AdTech and make sure that you talk to people. Also, lots of affiliate managers and network& C& \: m5 C1 R. ^3 p- {$ g

people can open a lot of doors as far as networks are concerned.

; s9 q; h0 y/ C' z# UOnce you're a member of a CPA Network, it's a really good idea to reach out to your affiliate manager) D8 l7 y+ Z! O) M/ {2 F6 `7 g( n
and make an attempt to get to know them a little bit.6 p6 h G: t4 c' I4 F4 D
Frankly, there are great affiliate managers and horrible ones, and a good one can be worth their: G/ O4 l: c, i* U- j* e/ h' H
weight in gold. Start feeling them out from the start and try to get to know them. Once you get) |. N9 t2 U4 V9 J) l

, [* f8 M, @4 M2 p3 V5 v; @0 lGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said% [5 y' J5 l6 |+ i
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared8 y* b) K+ E$ x [! ~3 ~7 u4 @+ c
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
. X1 w2 \) S- E! }- e0 L1 |3 Twhoever else is on the same server as you.
1 _* Q1 d6 ]3 {, Y- b$ m% |/ oSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
) W9 }5 s) p+ f& ~enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
x5 q. b4 i S) U. f; K tseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.- l" o' M( ^- Z0 K2 H2 c0 J2 J* R
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
+ J5 O9 p7 l+ g$ f$ \2 d0 qhouse full of roommates (hosting customers).. p. X3 L7 b& I& c# R
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
# n2 b5 p8 Q: q8 _the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will

Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than- B, n! r7 V- l6 a6 E9 k' T

their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
) j" g6 s. w% NIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For+ a6 \8 n3 s+ P* a5 Q/ N
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic., U5 u- P4 S8 x* c) R+ d
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space% \7 L |7 @. g$ U% z: Z
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
0 ~$ \7 f; M) ipartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
! B8 w- X& U EA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources: ?, E; i- b" y5 B
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
( }7 |7 ^2 f$ P) W+ E# s. {, ftraffic, faster.
; h' W. `! G" Q* ]* O2 W( Q* IAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.

.net, .org extension doesn't really matter, this isn't a domain we're going to try to use to SEO rank for a

campaigns using the Tracking202 internet-based interface which is similar to the Prosper202 user

If you choose this option, keep in mind that your tracking software, one of the most important parts of+ J+ k' ]0 F( V2 T

When you choose an offer, always make sure that it accepts PPV traffic, usually this is listed on the first) G2 W2 _% C4 Y( v

* a) y- e% [! U- D/ \ FFirst, I log into Ads4Dough and click on Campaigns, then Email/Zip submits.

get creatives like banners or images specifically for the offer.

track my keywords. Without doing this, it isn't possible to see what's converting.
