about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
6 _- u7 q' E2 n0 ]* _) g7 {host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
" }% S A7 z6 r% ]7 [7 Z8 w2 t0 Lwhoever else is on the same server as you.
8 @ |& g% i1 _Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast; i4 n- [6 R5 n1 F% m% z( K/ {0 Y
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
' f- j- q: R4 ]4 l( l' c9 y9 }& Cseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.. i; R, J! N) F1 c7 n
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
! @2 a( M7 _& K- z2 Ehouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
g! p" A0 G* S! Q: eIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside

the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate1 d6 n* o* A! V% \4 [0 x
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
& M2 S9 q$ @: v4 Q( i8 s- [If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For( y% ^7 b- _3 k
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
3 `, ~! R3 z2 T4 ?0 k4 ?% X5 ?In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
3 y% B& {6 ~3 l2 x4 `inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is: F' c5 u* `9 N/ X
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.2 b7 F ^- d0 O# `. L3 J
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources! f9 k& m9 o7 Z8 E- W! h% w1 W8 `
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more6 `' ~. X3 x# x
traffic, faster.2 l2 [4 i* {1 P/ t$ k9 V
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
