( f) F' o+ h6 {Set Up Web Hosting! M3 M, v- n# f" Y% F# j
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
7 a1 b- z; y- V% Z) B9 x3 C) ]0 Habout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared- K: w3 Y0 Y! r7 t
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with7 I; b6 F6 Y! K# B! @- Z
whoever else is on the same server as you.
& o8 J, a# m9 s' O0 {$ mSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
& H( Q8 o8 c n# j; Y- `enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
1 s, K; n6 f- x2 tseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
7 y" i2 e2 m6 ~. rTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
) f1 D* `+ f( Y4 a* q; G- Khouse full of roommates (hosting customers).& r" m, N& Y5 Q: o! {. C2 F4 G
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside& a) U, C Q& s. w8 `
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
7 o s5 }! H* o6 g: zfit.
6 Y3 S, h; p% e; M" z7 x: L, QSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
w: S( z8 B' U8 L) x& n" vthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate6 s5 @" M- a# w* K* D, O
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
7 ^3 h- N4 P3 S) H! r3 MIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
5 q7 d' D; T- U$ n! B& C" oany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
. H3 e. `: M+ |7 f0 |In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
, e1 Y- E9 q; F" _inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
# c5 b. I9 R9 D- b5 n, b9 ~partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
- r6 i$ J0 q0 f: s, p# M7 gA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
# w' w5 M F8 ]) e- Tbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more. ^; G+ u5 w: p/ T5 u
traffic, faster.9 N# y% R& L% p' |5 l( m5 L
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
