Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said) m+ _( t9 [2 U! {
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
% \" B( j2 w# S! H. s1 ^. khost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with# K) _3 L5 G9 P- m& d! V
whoever else is on the same server as you.
. @$ P/ a) t, L* s; N& jSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast: }* P% n& e/ D8 e. y' b
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
& F# l, u; ?$ @* i+ ]0 H3 Sseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.* j7 @( M) P% @ Z* O/ P3 x
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
. D. l; r# @; o# \! p% Thouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
) ?0 _# \) k5 R& e v% lIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside" D, C8 }2 s) p' J: Y) K
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
1 N0 i% K9 `/ a8 p' g6 `fit.- w9 F0 T O- Q0 G" ~' u
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
% I: h- C2 K/ ]" v/ K7 ]/ sthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate! l9 O4 @5 ~% Y, X6 M
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of. P0 w- ~: Z( c: J
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For7 Y% R/ `) K, T, J
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
3 _( O# F( K) g$ aIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
' M4 u: B8 Y: Ainside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
( |6 I# ]- ^' \- \2 i! Rpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.3 S0 y& b7 N* W2 g$ o
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources- f2 ~( ^/ g; S# R& \* K
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
( i; o9 [5 k3 i" F, M; @/ \* Ytraffic, faster.+ S0 s: H2 U, p1 B1 Q
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.5 V) m2 n ~; L8 q
