Set Up Web Hosting
- v# ]+ C! B xGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
: U5 k& y& q2 C9 t. vabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared0 K$ d9 V! d# X" e1 X
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
6 M( L; X* V6 V, l$ c" s$ mwhoever else is on the same server as you.4 i$ x3 M5 c) t1 N$ b3 G; R+ V
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast& [7 Y u$ q0 R5 l5 F8 g7 _& d5 U0 E
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3. q. p- r( w$ |
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
" K6 Q b$ w! O. RTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a

In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside

, p% A: @+ u6 m! ?/ |4 ~% S$ r$ lIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
' l ?$ V4 b7 q$ aany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic. P. k/ O$ M3 h3 a( _ ]8 C
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space4 }- ^& y4 Q7 W p% ~
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is1 {# W6 k2 `; W# c
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.# E& m8 F! o/ m
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources0 b9 b( o4 p- I5 |! ~" `
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
