Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said& G6 n, G9 C% Q* H @# F- K
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
% z% |- @ w5 yhost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with3 W6 o( u1 U0 k; G8 I' B
whoever else is on the same server as you.1 t3 U1 { Y( K [
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
4 R h1 d, g: M+ L; T+ {( t; @enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
; n! Q' Z) S9 |6 bseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.2 g9 Q) L' W9 B9 N! B& g, c" N
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a8 x/ C3 j4 X7 o; O# E# f
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
7 J" m! M1 O1 o3 a$ v* m4 C" QIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside0 i0 Y$ J8 t6 W" W) Q4 N

Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than, C) N7 K& }" R# A% Q1 e0 {
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
, @' m% E( @4 Y" s6 ftheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.9 D2 K) ]5 u( K
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
3 D" ^+ \# w6 }, n* ]( X. p! t/ V$ iany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.7 x" Y* A% t1 C% v& ^8 o
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
U" ?- _+ ^0 x D& Y5 N6 Hinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is0 ]) A. p# F9 n4 t0 r
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
9 e5 v/ T- u/ r; i$ c, `4 I: B! ~A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources6 q: R: g- U0 q& V
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
& |( V9 C% D9 g- ktraffic, faster.
: c5 `5 E; z, a3 Y; K5 o, S: f" pAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
