" y' e+ M& T! l9 t- f" B* n( GGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
, S* ]0 b* s1 S& k3 r$ uabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
* r8 V6 Q3 Z3 H7 |7 s6 V2 y- P2 Phost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
4 ]- f8 `$ Z1 I8 |( c: lwhoever else is on the same server as you.7 y) I! [1 m1 T+ u; h1 q l
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
6 ^+ d9 ]4 f! E0 P3 ^; z q1 ienough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 39 G. {( ~& | W% l
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
1 u2 A6 G$ F( n/ X$ ^To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
) U2 E* w; x1 V3 \+ ahouse full of roommates (hosting customers).. z3 E) |+ v9 u
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside& \/ A/ j# e* Y$ A' v2 N O! r1 s
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will

A) x v2 H" a! l' [Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
. x% l! F2 ]& Nthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate6 J& R1 p) u' H4 |; V! P
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
/ G/ }/ V9 j% t6 Y& lIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For4 c% _2 j5 O& S8 g. X7 ?
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.+ H$ ^0 `7 D5 a# Q6 z2 j. Q: e. D
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space- g6 J" p" \7 o+ h7 P9 F3 L: e$ ?
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is: Y9 }- C2 e6 k+ q3 n! h; f
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.# G! c1 r! B' m, w
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
$ l: ]% p) [' l3 B/ o) pbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
) e; A9 F3 @) C/ Otraffic, faster.* t, S. n# p* O ]5 G
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server. `+ `# `3 V1 Q* O; v5 d7 d8 }
