Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
5 s- x% t* K: b4 a7 Yabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
% _) n6 v( B0 jhost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
, G1 r8 n4 ^/ s; J4 A2 G5 Ywhoever else is on the same server as you.
+ z1 | i- U3 O$ O tSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
: f3 L* H+ f1 s$ U, Wenough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3: i7 ~" ?* o. [% {, |# u
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck." U, j1 y7 O6 X( B
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
7 R, M- {# |4 B- i! U. S4 c4 j, t! jhouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
# v6 O( L+ T7 }( D# n( L! X1 |) ?In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
# i3 ~0 R/ Y! g' h* J/ u9 K+ Vthe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
9 z! `' L$ ~* }4 `fit.+ Y/ V: u" s+ X0 G5 I
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
- U% ~5 l% j- |2 k& U( T6 ?the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate8 E! Q$ s5 O @9 k
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of. Q' P* X& u8 v# X
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For" d+ Y m7 O. R$ S z
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
! o8 j. C, V$ R* CIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space" g, r0 n! s L7 F! x- _
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
: X' g9 D0 q$ X" Wpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
+ f/ c. L+ w0 a: q4 v0 w) qA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
# D7 I7 ], a% I5 wbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more, x w. s q6 D6 {- Z
traffic, faster.
& D( L, A) M' |4 {' eAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.$ ]- @, q1 b# E" @
