Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said+ { l( k! l6 h* F5 Z
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
: q* H: Q1 j9 z' Ihost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with i2 @ b* J' f* [ j: Z( j
whoever else is on the same server as you.
% o3 _# p0 G7 g+ uSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast6 H+ ]( o. n/ ]1 K0 \1 m
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
- h; i2 A6 x- b7 Cseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.$ Y( R6 q" l) c# @9 f, U/ l8 ^
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
8 T6 `0 v/ M- \- n8 }house full of roommates (hosting customers).0 ~5 d; T9 x" [) ~
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside$ B- |2 I! R6 I+ i- j' t+ b
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
: a l U: _1 G* V4 f" q ~1 Xfit.
{) f7 E. j% D7 QSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
+ S% ]! f' y1 S6 h0 ~% Tthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
& @6 L2 w/ P7 \% c3 l/ V" e; h- [. otheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.- |# b3 c2 b2 ]4 X
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For u }; V' M( y' C0 w6 m
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
2 R. o' B+ `( H: C0 y% [In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
& `! T( ?1 G. Y# B. linside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
: C# M4 z* p( Z/ }; a9 qpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.7 l+ l9 l6 W: _3 T" Y! |
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
& v3 @8 E) e" o* O5 nbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more3 r* B/ a* w& F. o2 U. }
traffic, faster.% \0 d0 {5 I; W+ j3 R- s
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.

~3 r- m1 Z9 i' w7 @Oftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,$ x9 D# x- x% u: l+ e7 @
