The affiliate marketing space is filled with offers, internet traffic sources, promotion techniques and an

3 h2 s3 G! c) X/ I/ j' Zyou'll wake up to millions of dollars overnight. For anyone who has ACTUALLY done affiliate marketing
/ W" ^3 Y' P( t$ k+ ?: D+ ~' n9 wwith any success, these claims are laughable and far from the truth.
8 D! X4 Y/ C# ~/ _! BAffiliate marketing is simply a business, like any other. There are customers, sales, suppliers and cash* v, k* u* p n
flow management. The main benefits are the low barrier to entry compared to other businesses, and

( R- d6 f1 S9 l5 H0 p6 q1 i; TAffiliate Marketing- is an internet-based marketing practice in which a business pays one or more
5 B% r& e Q% T5 h+ C0 }affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. The two main

types off affiliate networks are cost per sale (CPS) and cost per action (CPA).% W2 L8 N* X, o# d& g
Cost per sale (CPS) network- Every time an affiliate sends a visitor who buys a product, the affiliate
1 U/ Q% q1 q$ o% }; \receives a commission on that product. An example would be the Amazon.com Associates program,/ E( N7 l% m* h
Comission Junction or Clickbank.
$ j& c% \ c0 O0 d3 HCost per action (CPA) network- The affiliate earns a commission by sending a visitor who completes
5 F, ?$ N) ]: M9 a/ _an action like filling out a form, submitting their email address, signing up for a service or sometimes
8 E" Q* `3 A/ m" Q8 ]- X: Obuying a product. An example would be Ads4Dough or Neverblue.
& A+ o! {' S# _Affiliate Manager- an affiliate's contact at a CPA affiliate network who is responsible for the affiliate's
; d7 v& d6 H: ~% |. f$ ]. t: aaccount, getting the affiliate approved for offers, bumping payouts and just about everything else
" v/ k7 o9 q# k' {related to an affiliate's account at the network. Having a good relationship with your affiliate manager+ o5 z' d% w; Y, z1 d N; Q
right from the start can really help you.
; `4 ?1 o7 z9 @* t) yPPV- means pay-per-view, and is also called CPV (cost-per-view). This type of internet traffic is served4 h: o+ ~- m) P3 Q( v
in pop-up form through downloadable software on the visitor's computer. The advertiser pays per
. b5 A" C6 W- D& K6 C3 I, b7 kview, starting anywhere from .01 or .015.
. e, K$ z7 T$ T) ]; HIn order to use this type of internet traffic, the affiliate can sign up with a number of different6 D+ X( C+ m6 L3 v
companies who serve popups. The main PPV/CPV networks are Trafficvance, LeadImpact,! P; p5 x9 _/ ^0 P4 J6 S: Q

No. Popups are served in a new browser window as if the visitor had opened the new window9 s% [ B2 m; \9 }
themselves.

$ B' h6 ~* |" c% |% ]$ uThe number of popups served varies depending on the PPV network. Some pop more frequently

serving this kind of advertising, so they have to toe the line between keeping their software

Isn't this type of software bad? Why would anyone keep it on their computer?( |; s; w6 }2 M# Y' h$ _6 ?8 ]
No, this type of software doesn't harm the user's computer.
7 ~# O4 |' t/ |6 {* G5 C' }Companies that specialize in this type of traffic offer their visitor an incentive like screensavers, games,
" D( {" q% |0 w% ftoolbars or videos to place the software on their computer. The visitor keeps the software in place so
/ ?/ `; d: v: h( sthat they can continue to have access to the incentive.

How to Get Accepted into a CPA Network
/ a D/ R) Y- MIn order to start marketing offers, it will be necessary to join one or more CPA networks. A good place
2 |8 t. o8 l* p9 k% ~8 h. sto start looking for networks is Offervault which lists offers and lets you compare payouts across; O# Z2 W4 m5 e, G
different networks.
3 B* b6 y5 y- K3 S! e" }7 ?8 nOnce you find a network that you want to join, fill out the affiliate (sometimes called publisher): o0 P5 G4 X0 j$ x; v/ e
application and be as specific as possible about your promotion methods. Usually some time after/ A6 \4 v! `7 Q' {* O& V
receiving your application, the company will call to interview you. The phone interview is a critical0 O. d/ T. r# B# r
part of the application process, and most networks will deny your application outright if they can't get
4 D" m, c- B: Nyou on the phone.+ ~0 J5 H0 K1 T V4 A3 Q( T
Often, the person who does your phone interview will actually become your affiliate manager after4 D6 V q5 I9 D
you get accepted, so it's a good time to put your best food forward.8 F7 J# ], l/ f; o; k% u7 S
You might not relish at the idea of someone grilling you about your internet marketing methods over
* g4 [# y7 P( x( E! R8 L8 \) ithe phone, but trust me, this part is critical. Have answers in mind for the questions:

application. If you get denied, just keep applying or call someone on the phone and try again. Be
/ Y. S2 k3 D- R8 E( @' Z6 _persistent. Also, getting a personal recommendation from someone who is already an active affiliate# o6 j* j3 y7 _8 K
for the network can be helpful.

Summit, or AdTech and make sure that you talk to people. Also, lots of affiliate managers and network

@; @4 v/ z* w9 K( r. dpeople can open a lot of doors as far as networks are concerned.

, H# \% } G. A2 MOnce you're a member of a CPA Network, it's a really good idea to reach out to your affiliate manager

Frankly, there are great affiliate managers and horrible ones, and a good one can be worth their
4 N, `, F9 Q! M5 k( oweight in gold. Start feeling them out from the start and try to get to know them. Once you get

# w; C/ F' p# P" SGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
, O3 N; B- t2 h. R( w% zabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared" \, V: K L$ `. Q( U. @6 O4 ]* r
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
2 `9 j0 E/ P1 [9 B: ~7 Rwhoever else is on the same server as you.
; D( Y0 [( o9 D! {, N/ T2 RSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
~$ s+ l( Z0 w/ `9 Z9 ~' e0 fenough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
* z5 O3 `1 a Z( r" e' Y/ jseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.2 _) B% ?7 I; H8 P7 }& k
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a% d# j9 d j; m. {* H1 O# W
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
+ k5 N2 w/ \3 z9 @In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside$ a O. }! w; v7 r5 O# L
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will

their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
, A6 @4 {* P% hIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
( f+ @ g% a( v6 j6 Z. J4 fany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.! c& r7 e+ c7 J/ z' O8 S1 J' [! Y
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
4 i3 C4 P1 Y% ?# a8 c: |* ~inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
$ S. _, ^5 ?) s- Spartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.: G! S+ O9 l" |# L
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources7 Q1 w) l. Z3 m/ O( ~9 P) N
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more' W" @: @& G1 F
traffic, faster.1 r1 ~+ u/ T9 r5 J6 ]+ x7 ~& b
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.1 [5 i. Y. ]# M8 t1 G4 L. H

Oftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,

% c( v6 m/ h* @. _8 {After you buy hosting, a domain and get those all attached to each other, the next step is to install

Tracking 202 is the hosted version of Prosper202. You can create a free account and then build your/ t9 J" a) D6 o) r% y0 E7 a
campaigns using the Tracking202 internet-based interface which is similar to the Prosper202 user

If you choose this option, keep in mind that your tracking software, one of the most important parts of

When you choose an offer, always make sure that it accepts PPV traffic, usually this is listed on the first

First, I log into Ads4Dough and click on Campaigns, then Email/Zip submits.

Before I do anything else, I'm going to place my tracking pixel from my tracking software so that I can
