6 X# T2 H# L* F/ ?% a; I; hGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said2 p% H, R7 g" d7 ]
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared! H; b& w& Y% H" o! G0 _% b( q
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
) @* n1 \7 Q* `2 a5 ]/ N+ zwhoever else is on the same server as you., E! v7 u( p+ E2 S8 f
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast2 x7 [2 C7 R. }. S1 `( y B
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
g l7 u7 Z8 c/ O9 K3 sseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
0 Q7 t6 ^$ o* v8 b. T6 g9 NTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
! G. \! R8 ]- @house full of roommates (hosting customers).
4 O- ]( u) o# |3 V; s+ fIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside% A! b) m' G4 q) e
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will, K' D7 A+ G5 G$ Z+ W! Y& e3 j3 U# e3 X$ Y

) ~/ ^. c- ?5 J: T# b4 jSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
8 r5 g+ s5 h* R1 vthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate! x5 {8 U4 [, F4 y" \, u7 |: Z
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
3 N$ C2 ?- g! JIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
& }% d4 f( a5 O% G- R. _9 Eany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
7 |: y: P! ^% B9 ]6 R9 P5 JIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space, Y% U, m" f& u2 H3 J. r0 M
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is6 X2 @/ p' m9 W5 O
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
" o+ ? n9 m; q4 a* ?A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
4 U2 P$ U, l" i' \) z8 z9 A: Wbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more" Y3 ?4 z, ^4 Q6 x" \) R" e; j
traffic, faster.
3 w. W9 W3 ~3 n' |- i! P* m' AAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.7 `7 g1 O s- u6 g+ R! L
