Set Up Web Hosting
2 j% q2 @! b1 X1 z. lGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said& q. }/ J2 j, z. R! r; z( n; I
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared) r& }# |* V+ D4 x0 m
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
; k2 ]* f- D5 |% o$ lwhoever else is on the same server as you.
" a2 f! x6 I; S8 Z6 i9 mSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
% T/ v& y3 L' R, p' y ?5 `enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
# u/ @, J5 J( x! U- q, a5 M& u/ h" mseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.0 ?8 f$ y; _& p# F0 @
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a5 d5 ~4 v/ S& j! i. q( s
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
0 Z. F5 T' E* m8 A: YIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
# [8 l/ N. z8 {& ^2 a+ othe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will. {' m- l4 ?& ~( K7 V0 q
fit. _5 h; N# \- M3 Y* H6 I
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
2 B. ]. ^6 ?& ~5 E- A8 J# u& y+ Qthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
+ @: O- F3 Z* x% Htheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.8 u2 ~7 T j2 K; E5 Q8 J
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For4 V/ i1 L1 L# J; s
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic. b9 [* b" U; J4 ?6 o6 M
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space1 o0 J! p7 x A! u' V( G3 K
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
. k9 M6 E5 E6 ~# dpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
& _/ d3 | ]' }3 v# T5 U; o, KA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources: B( v/ ^: o2 Z2 E
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more0 D( H) Z% m* [9 V
traffic, faster.0 a8 p2 k) m# {1 K# [9 e
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.3 s0 V1 C- ~0 t" ?9 L O
