Set Up Web Hosting! M3 r' l/ x+ q$ @( I+ ~
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said9 ~) p6 d: M# e2 D
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared- s- s: F ~1 u7 a
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
' f/ Q7 W8 O9 q- Y7 P1 owhoever else is on the same server as you.3 |2 y/ z; |# [- _1 b$ n! K0 P
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast+ o6 M) k; y/ I3 [) H9 F
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3! Q# T4 ~' E! b% W! @
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
* _$ C8 _" P, o6 V: tTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
' M" w9 F; C5 r" X; dhouse full of roommates (hosting customers).: u. z" ~9 b' T' B
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside) u+ m! y( X3 d. M' k
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
# o! @$ d, q4 o. efit.
; R" ?8 C2 C0 \8 a3 A* u% jSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
1 e6 K2 W+ Y. l T0 n- C/ athe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate' R' g; J; l. u( E& K
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
& X: z8 x4 i7 o, d' o/ L/ LIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
0 N8 Y9 m9 @- k; N" nany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.5 O9 o/ h6 y! p
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
" C6 m; `6 Y( ^* oinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
% O; B/ Z$ j, h9 ipartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
' z$ k1 V; W2 m! X4 `* iA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources y' w' ^7 W6 k% m4 |. I$ O
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more: k) b0 d/ X0 K" u+ W0 T- Y# i
traffic, faster.% ~( G I; T/ s
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.

Once you buy your hosting it's time to also buy a domain name and get it on your hosting. This is$ F4 r! W; r: x& L d6 F
where you're going to host your tracking software and your landing pages if you decide to make them.+ d7 l5 @+ L# n) B# n. B) U6 C
Oftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,
