Set Up Web Hosting
8 q, _1 k; N6 F: sGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said; l- d$ T, C0 z( Z% |" h/ E- }1 g
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared; n+ f$ P3 f( O
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with+ y" b$ K$ N1 {2 R" K1 R, |
whoever else is on the same server as you.
0 @" F5 r) R1 E/ vSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
! w) Z7 ~" v N1 Cenough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
1 t2 ]: e% L4 c( \seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
! S* R( z& Z ETo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a" `' ^# m9 }5 M2 N
house full of roommates (hosting customers).3 |) \& a9 a/ \4 @* N
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
$ ?8 \& t. g# S5 K j4 I* Uthe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will# R. o) t& P4 J" R* I0 {
fit./ E' R( i" r+ R r
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
& T# \7 `2 j3 l7 V ~* jthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
, N1 |2 M: f6 B7 F( P# O: w* ftheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
- c6 x% E3 Z, P6 @( V- S- zIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
- ~8 d9 n5 b* a9 ?# h; s7 z5 _any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.! _1 C, g6 w4 M4 F- r( r
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
& ^6 Q& P% {( |7 S2 K) Ninside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is* t. P9 o7 U9 d7 w1 d' k
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.9 M% r' y6 r/ p
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
2 p8 b r2 p( k8 \0 W1 |belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
% ^, }6 H7 p+ u1 a* Atraffic, faster.: `( n6 V7 J: R6 i; @/ |
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.# x2 r4 |1 s5 K* |! F; x
