Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said) M5 |" }% k% F/ A
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared5 x; \4 w2 |4 W: z+ S- B
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with* B0 l. a6 M: d; |) s- E- _
whoever else is on the same server as you.3 m, l6 j8 k6 S
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
& _% n: k5 M8 z, C/ r3 D' henough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 35 T4 r# T+ Z9 f' _( L
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
/ y4 p+ W& x( e9 T+ K& RTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a* `3 R/ c% y( l# X2 ?
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
. A/ M4 f1 e$ H, q- _7 F; AIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
3 \4 I- n' J' N; J& g3 A9 {2 r3 sthe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
, l: N9 v, c6 y7 y7 P) j: |3 Yfit.9 S9 P4 _. [9 ~/ Z i
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
. F+ R& C" H: V' m- S; y( zthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate' u1 `% k# u2 Q i
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of. |1 P4 |$ T2 \! v# s
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For4 J% I9 Z* L7 X$ `
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
4 Z& q( B. ^. d- WIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space$ F2 X* ]- O" h8 r* Z0 H
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
H7 C1 H5 a' o- [0 Dpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.% F. ^* X4 U+ I0 w# g! ^ w( v1 I
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources! k: L. Q8 E& d
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more% H" X4 ]6 U* I
traffic, faster.
/ ]- L& U1 M+ u) l4 P1 E9 }+ {At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.

Once you buy your hosting it's time to also buy a domain name and get it on your hosting. This is

4 d& w3 j# @) g+ A& p7 @9 u1 AOftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,
