: c# ^$ r8 t1 LGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said) k0 p5 B& }2 K7 @
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared3 l B, p' u+ e# l% N- R
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
5 U3 i' O* w2 k. `% Iwhoever else is on the same server as you.. y2 B7 W5 n" \8 |5 N; J2 G
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast/ K X5 g3 q6 i/ \% y/ R! _
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3# c7 K' n- i X; e$ H8 ]
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
3 F* D2 {5 d1 dTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
" i5 g' x- b5 F5 \ I4 A' @. ?house full of roommates (hosting customers).
$ |* M8 R8 b) T, E$ [* z: vIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside' E% H0 @4 R$ Z5 ~- H

their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.; N6 {1 G) b" b- b
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
* a9 T0 M1 S2 O- k2 cany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
9 }3 ^3 ?( `0 `In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
5 Q) c5 B- E+ uinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
. x# U9 z3 {' P) B0 h! x8 o, m/ lpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
$ c+ @5 O- t! e4 D! G) Q: XA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
- Y- d6 o- V9 `3 l5 P5 k0 C5 obelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more |% Y6 @9 g& q: R! h' l
traffic, faster.
9 F! I I2 Y5 L) ^: u# K4 iAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
