Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said0 C) M, b2 }) p( M8 d9 _
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared/ U4 G3 I+ G5 ?) o0 z4 [
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
& o' U+ S+ T# U3 M zwhoever else is on the same server as you.- ?2 N& O7 w- ]3 w! @1 A
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
3 S' J6 X4 g5 M6 henough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3* t6 X: c0 i. a
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
0 }7 ^4 B- f) N, FTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a3 t4 W+ y! H' D0 _& i( p
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
# z) C4 {% A7 {$ y9 o- b# D0 Z5 sIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
( [4 b+ |8 l4 ?) |4 ithe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will

3 w2 Q' H# Y' f% E2 I; z5 }0 J5 w. CSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than1 ?4 H4 J. x# \9 B
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
* c! p I4 A, U; q; e! {their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
* K. _: W4 @, {9 N0 B# A; jIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For+ X& v+ O% P. Y+ T
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
3 \. W7 I9 C: u$ \In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space5 \: z. r7 r7 H; d9 ?! Y: ~
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
. z0 E7 J& g2 k( Y# B4 m/ R* @1 Gpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.& P5 m4 u/ _! Q* i0 W
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources2 f8 y# y6 @+ ?2 H8 N l
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more* y" c0 ~" I; Q) i
traffic, faster.
- K7 U' I# N! G5 fAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
