4 {( |! I6 A$ @1 y+ D" F- jGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
8 a; N& |9 d9 U5 uabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared1 c# i+ z5 l: |0 y0 o
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with4 j; p6 `0 t0 Z! h; `
whoever else is on the same server as you.6 d& Y- N2 V( F: x) L
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
7 O8 Y, k! |& X: {enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
- ?7 d4 E& {4 N4 ?( _seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
/ U' N, L3 r6 D2 }To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a) s2 u) M: E4 u6 h5 r; T \/ O
house full of roommates (hosting customers).) q; I* T. t# c* n
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
& `; y" q& V3 G; Rthe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
" k5 t" E: _6 a! z3 pfit.% u0 n0 t7 w2 [+ Y! Y: F

the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate( T% U6 T& O' _
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
# h: d" Z5 O3 I! a# ~+ Z' wIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For' i V4 G2 l) |) z
any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic./ J1 `+ `6 n* N
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
' a: H S9 Y2 Winside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
& f- n3 a& r3 a# Q3 J' fpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
1 x1 n: H, X7 ^A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources- U. w4 C4 `4 H" |/ S. S# t4 K7 J
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
( q! u2 K- d8 J: ^traffic, faster.2 v7 I* o5 A( W5 E) Q U- P" N
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
