9 U) U0 L4 g4 o2 Q7 NSet Up Web Hosting% b% h" ?3 |; X8 w% _2 s/ S
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
. |$ |1 ^) Y& |2 L) Sabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared8 r6 G0 F* G3 g& h6 @
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with! V$ B" U0 h1 M+ M* m$ s! @- h
whoever else is on the same server as you.
7 u8 B& w# t }8 ?$ q$ KSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast% r m% C: r9 {
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3 D2 ^3 J3 b; V7 u5 V
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.8 k& H; X- W* V q: l+ Q
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a/ \# L8 N% ?6 F& J9 q* D
house full of roommates (hosting customers).. w4 P5 @% m4 ]: ^2 x2 ^; @
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside# x2 G4 @( _% D. o, F' p
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will: z1 _' x n* m9 e0 j$ V+ N
fit.
- O, M$ n. J9 _! `8 _' ASay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
* t3 i" T1 A4 D/ |$ K/ \2 Uthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
/ O8 U/ V0 L! g) n, stheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.8 O/ L6 b1 U$ v0 v' j
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
1 W7 M5 b* h& d `9 S& many type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
?. L z% r" G5 M7 \In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
9 z- t- G: q! [ ` p: n4 Dinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is" r5 e2 j( a# X
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.8 |6 X5 n/ \7 K- n6 P6 V. z
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources9 h4 L3 h# f# F# d5 P- L' D
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more' c w% [: r: v0 q- w: {
traffic, faster.
) ?, b! v: t, F! B. r+ |6 R9 nAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
