Set Up Web Hosting
# b) n/ W* x+ ^* \- j0 f' s8 mGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said. K4 [, b& s- h0 f% Y
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared" c {; E" }1 U1 ~9 B v
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with
9 O, E+ t) ?$ D" Xwhoever else is on the same server as you.
& \! q4 j( z. |5 v1 C, L E0 T8 XSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast/ i$ I) {2 y+ v5 j
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 37 n- F) i" t, |( T
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.; L4 N( R! ^' P* {2 T) G
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
. j8 @0 _5 a6 d; c( @3 n. K1 Khouse full of roommates (hosting customers).9 c2 L& {9 M, }) Q8 T8 b
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside; q/ u1 `, x2 C+ Z: E
the fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will5 }2 P+ v( V7 ^- k5 Q8 A. W- D
fit." y# [8 O; U: y* @: M+ t
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
7 V* ?! E; j. G8 L. L2 }the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
$ J" t4 Y4 _( Y6 Ntheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
+ H; ]% c3 m5 s4 p$ }9 _If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
4 ]7 g# k- i s3 X6 Nany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.' t5 t+ O7 i2 p: b. | A! _
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
) f: J: _ m, u, S1 O4 x. Uinside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is/ A( k( ^9 K$ r
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
8 Y) l ~- B/ d4 S% y# BA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
2 z! t# }2 B6 ~ X' k. |belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
m8 m4 F7 p6 \ P0 I0 Ntraffic, faster.9 }1 Z% x# [; c8 ^) j& l7 S8 s
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.

" [# ]7 e3 {/ G4 o9 l6 H6 XOftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,
