Set Up Web Hosting
3 u4 N' i# k ?* d: i8 C) z# IGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
+ D) S* i+ L, C# oabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
% S6 }4 p s+ ~" G0 S. f0 l: X, Dhost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with; q4 v9 r* e" V$ E+ k# K
whoever else is on the same server as you.3 X4 M( M' U4 P# _
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast5 m9 K8 N2 o8 I: v# [
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3 D) g9 U' |" o& c
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
: M9 H% y. `1 @2 r' hTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a- g3 \) D4 `9 g, U% @, `" B
house full of roommates (hosting customers).
, B! T8 e2 K* g0 b4 b" h5 m! g( B; GIn shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
3 y# `& z" V. L8 bthe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
& f7 o( H$ n9 Q! Y4 F7 N) Nfit.& s6 z1 q: ]+ D( u1 O1 @9 D# k+ R! A
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
1 ~7 j) ^& i0 L2 n* t3 Pthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate5 ]( K" e1 f4 k# p0 E- W& z
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
6 h/ L# ]. k8 bIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
+ o* S9 C4 n& l- g& zany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.0 ]& H* Y6 K( z# X' L
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space8 X7 s2 D U$ g
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
0 y' O1 n$ F7 k# gpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.& d1 _$ {- k8 @) d4 ?
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources7 [3 W; p3 O+ h/ e, c( e( N
belong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more' i3 G+ N# n# w) W o( T' \2 G
traffic, faster.
% M( c3 ]1 t" e5 F" S1 F9 r, X# n3 tAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.

Once you buy your hosting it's time to also buy a domain name and get it on your hosting. This is" G; F4 `8 P& H& l- A

0 `- |% z% c5 U- o: L& K, GOftentimes people wonder if they should have a specific domain name or a generic one. One generic,5 M \8 X* T2 K2 p: e. }
