Set Up Web Hosting3 C9 p- l$ j) r" [/ q
Getting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
; K _1 h V7 q3 aabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
6 |% {, w/ ^: n5 y9 V0 V3 Lhost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with2 O' q9 f2 V6 W( y
whoever else is on the same server as you.
4 q3 k1 O7 T# l- K+ _* k- vSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
0 \) p' m" h& Z: A, Z) W! [enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3' \3 K5 E/ q% [
seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
}) n4 m$ d. `- XTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a" S4 B# u1 g7 k4 X$ j# H9 Q: w: X
house full of roommates (hosting customers).' q$ a( O: I% U% y
In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside

1 F: v9 v1 k4 E7 j. d( QSay your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than$ o+ K, ?) `% g1 R/ g( ]
the rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate5 W2 b4 s; |) I/ F5 j
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
. T1 l! y" b$ o7 M8 sIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
8 A) v$ _( H Vany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
- |# n9 I, _6 Y, ~% dIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space
5 A9 U& J4 `, G0 l* Ginside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is1 j' P$ a3 k3 r: g
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time./ a: m4 |3 ?7 K7 ~! A) w4 j \
A dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
+ Q" T% }8 s) A( @5 }1 Tbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more& i/ K# w, p" s/ U

+ n9 M0 q3 X3 b" k' Z, I, S% U* GAt the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.( E" H: {1 g0 f1 h
