Set Up Web Hosting
6 [# r* @3 Q, u; q3 \1 bGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said) A; r$ ]0 j% a; q0 c" m! _) c, \, G
about internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared
" U& j& c4 L! z/ w0 a( mhost for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with5 `4 W9 O9 m, h. l% [; [6 m
whoever else is on the same server as you.- w2 n/ T8 g# {! h
Speed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast
0 O3 \% E# `4 o# Q& L7 Z/ ]" Ienough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
. o3 i" S8 n$ i1 J# \seconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck./ u& d9 E% {' D! c8 A4 r. F1 C
To explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
2 W" P9 y3 ]; x8 V5 |4 Z0 rhouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
4 f# y8 c, q" |1 |In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
" H# d! w, S$ g/ J% X Wthe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will
' O9 c6 D6 a8 p: X0 l4 q Y) ^$ U+ A nfit.: c" ?/ p- `+ j8 x0 G( B% m4 h
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
* \' A! O7 z* s. l; z* `" Bthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate
+ \2 o+ x4 T+ C( k) qtheir food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.
/ Z; w7 s4 m/ X+ m; F' x) gIf you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
3 o: d( t% R; r% V2 }! }$ _6 ?+ v) ^any type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.9 J' k. ] n9 c0 U* s, G" U; ?
In the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space, C4 \9 q% \' J; e
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is1 G/ U9 s3 g4 H; `) L9 Z
partitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
' }& y# ~/ @: Q: d& l' CA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources

% O+ x1 k+ a/ u1 V7 }! l( e3 V' Z# Ntraffic, faster.7 ^" c T0 j5 U% M
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server./ q. h7 m5 z5 r- U0 g! b- Y. H9 Q
